(INDIANAPOLIS) -- Aspects of human resources and a safety refresher course are the focus of three upcoming Indiana Chamber conferences in April:
- How to Hire, Fire and Discipline Your Employees Within the Law in Indiana, April 17, 8:30 a.m. to noon (EDT). Presented by Barnes & Thornburg LLP, this half-day seminar addresses how to manage the hiring and firing portion of human resources within the constraints of Indiana law. Topics range from how to legally gather information on potential employees to effective practices for terminating employees and managing day-to-day employment relationships. Cost: $199 for Indiana Chamber members; $229 for non-members.
- AchieveWELL Certificate Training Program - Level One, April 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and April 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (EDT). This day-and-a-half seminar is the first step in the AchieveWELL Certificate Training Program, and is presented by the Wellness Council of Indiana and the Indiana Chamber. Attendees will learn the basics of workplace wellness, employee health, using data to drive wellness strategies and how to implement a wellness program, among other topics. A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the course. Course speaker is Chuck Gillespie, Wellness Council program director. Cost: $399 for Wellness Council or Indiana Chamber members; $599 for non-members.
- HAZWOPER 8-Hour Annual Refresher Course, April 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EDT). Wilcox Environmental Engineering, Inc. presents this refresher course as outlined by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) for workers at hazardous waste sites. Topics covered include regulation overview, hazard recognition, hazardous chemical awareness, toxicology, material sampling, decontamination, and emergency procedures, among others. A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the course and is accepted by OSHA as documentation of training. Cost: $249 for Indiana Chamber members; $299 for non-members.
